Brief: A Kazakh company, with British management, is supervising construction and managing subcontracts on behalf/in support of the client--TengizChevron.
The construction works are buildings and related infrastructure to the value of US 100 +M to be completed over the next 2.5 years.
The buildings are maintenance workshops, canteen, substation, local infrastructure and later a laboratory.
All work will be contracted out to local contractors.
The company is providing the technical supervision team that will cover engineering supervision, cost control/ valuations/QS duties and project planning. The company is applying a strong partnering approach with the local contractors in order to successfully complete the project. The initial team is established on site, the second team will work back to back with them.

A minimum 10 years experience on relevant construction projects is required; previous experience in Kazakhstan & HND\BSc qualifications would be preferable.
We are advised of the following T&Cs:-- rotation 28/28, day rate GBP400-450 subject to qualifications & experience, all found, economy flights, medical insurance, work permit, etc
You will be paid directly by the company; you are advised to conform with HMRC rules regarding UK leave.

Brief: Our client requires construction supervision staff for a very large
irrigation project in the Northern State of Sudan (which they advise is not
a security risk area). The entire project comprises 6 large contracts
running simultaneously, so that this post is one of six similar vacancies.
Minimum qualification is an appropriate degree and 10+ years of experience,
most of which should be in the relevant field of expertise.
Commercial\Contracts Managers will be conversant with all standard FOC with
excellent contract administration experience.
You will speak\read\write excellent English and have willingness to travel
on long-term basis, preferably with overseas experience in African
conditions similar to those in Northern Sudan.
Accommodation will be on the site in contractor-constructed housing.
Normally for these construction sites in Sudan, individuals have a choice
between working 6 days a week or working 7 days a week on a cycle of 3
months on, 3 weeks off, 3 months on, 3 weeks off, 3 months on 10 days off
then annual leave.
Freelancers are normally paid for all the time when not on the annual leave
(i.e.including the 3 weeks or 10 days off periods).
Staff with 1 - 2 year contracts would normally have an annual salary which
includes for leave. It depends on the individual and the post.
Remuneration will be individually negotiated on the basis of qualifications,
experience, and suitability for the relevant post.
One home air ticket per 6 months is the norm.
Commencement will be on, or about, the 2nd quarter of 2010. The project will
run for at least 6 years.

Contract Administrator, under the directives of the Project Control Manager
/ Deputy Project Control Manager will be responsible for all the contractual
matters stipulated in the Contract, including preparation of correspondences
in relation to Company and change order request.
Role and Responsibilities
- Review incoming letters and advise on contractual issues.
- Manage and draft daily correspondence.
- ?Advise on all commercial and contractual issues.
- ?Prepare, update and maintain CWN, CWR CWP and CWO logs.
- ?Lead with preparation of CWN and CWP.
- ?Ensure compliance with stipulated time periods for responses to COMPANY
on CWN and CWP.
- Ditto follow-up on responses from COMPANY and advise what further action,
if any, is appropriate and necessary.
- ?Prepare, update and maintain subject matter files with relevant document,
including schedule, as appropriate, to assist Project Directorate Team to
manage specific areas of concern.
- Advise and assist with collation of relevant records to pursue recovery of
disruption cost as and when appropriate.
- Ditto for prolongation costs.
- Attend internal/external meetings as and when appropriate and prepare
minutes of meeting.

Job description:
Quantity Surveyor - SUBCONTRACTOR Level
Job Purpose :
- Responsible for the contractual administration of the Project to the final account and final acceptance of the Works. Monitoring the progress, recording events and reporting.
- Monitor the respect of the contractual obligations in relation with the Customer and provide practical solutions to Construction and Project Managers
- Ensure that the organization of the Project documentation permits easy and rapid access to respond to any enquiry on whether the Consortium is fulfilling its contractual obligations
- Anticipate claims and counterclaims and assess potential knock-on effect
- Provide up to date contractual status on all aspects of the Project
Responsibilities :
- Be the contractual, economic and financial advisor to Construction and Projects Manager
- Log events and resolution in the Document Control System
- Provide practical contractual assistance (i.e. analysis and potential solutions) to the Project Manager to solve day to day problems so that the Project progresses effectively and efficiently
- Standardize “contract” filing system on all contractual areas, which appear to cause concern and/or problems, and maintain this filing system.
- Prepare and ensure that appropriate contract documentation (letters, minutes of meetings, submittals) is available on demand
- Scrutinize Employer Requests for contractual and/or change orders and assist in proposing variations
- Ensure that all official exchanges have been reviewed for contractual implications
- Attend all relevant meetings in order to protect SUBCONTRACTOR’s contractual position
- Support Project Reporting process by providing a reliable and easily understood summary of the project at any given time vis-à-vis SUBCONTRACTOR commitments in terms of programming of activities to meet contractual dates :
- contractual status of payments from CUSTOMER,
- status of variation/change orders with the CUSTOMER,
- status of potential or actual claims/counterclaims with CUSTOMER for e.g. delays/extension of time, breaches, etc..
- Manage all insurance cases in order to protect the SUBCONTRACTOR’s interests

Knowledge and experience :
- Experience contract management for Turnkey contracts
- Broad knowledge of construction project, telecom infrastructure is a plus
- At least 10 years of experience in similar position including at least 5 years in international project with multiple partners/subcontractors.
